The “Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the Georgia and the Government of People’s Republic of China” was signed in Beijing on 13 May 2017. The Agreement will enter into force upon completion of appropriate domestic procedures by both parties. It should be noted that Georgia is the first country in the region having signed a free trade agreement with China. Upon the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement with China, the goods and services originating in Georgia shall enjoy world’s biggest 1.4 billion consumer market. The Georgian entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to export the 94 percent of commodities on Chinese market with zero import tariffs.
